PJ Dalton Biography

Paula Dalton was born into a creative family. Both her mother and grandmother were seamstresses and quilt makers; her father was a professional photographer. She grew up surrounded with brightly colored fabrics and quilt patterns, as well as proficient photographic work. These became the basis of her early visual explorations.

Ms. Dalton attended the John Herron School of Art, where she earned a B.A. degree in Art History. She took painting and drawing classes from Robert Berkshire and Richard Emory Nicholson. "Through their instruction," she says, "I learned to use painting as the means to explore both objects and mathematics."

Her pieces have been showcased in the Office of the Mayor of Anderson, IN as well as the Madison County Visitors Bureau. Her first solo show was in Union City, IN at the Randolph County Art Association. She has also shown her mixed media pieces in the Manhattan Arts International Exhibition, NY and at the Louisville Visual Arts Association, Louisville, KY.

When she's not creating her own art, Paula instructs other artists privately and at the Anderson Center for the Arts.
